The local (to me) newspaper [1] has a story about a local firefighter who had a 13W
Globe brand screw in fluoprescent light bulb erupt into smoke. There is a warning
from Health Canada about them:
http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/english/protection/warnings/2004/2004_68_e.html The scary part is the bulb that erupted is one of the "safe" ones, that is, it was made after the dates provided by Health Canada which are supposed to indicate the unsafe ones. [1] You know you live in a small town when everybody reads the newspaper to see if they got the story right.
