DORMANCY

Dormancy in Aponogeton

Myth. The article at this link talks about what was accepted in 1989, since then I've been convinced that Aponogetons may sometimes endure a resting phase in nature when water dries up (but the bulb *cannot* totally dry out or it will die) but that in capticity they will go on forever and when they "slow down" or "die back" it just means they're starving to death. They're such heavy feeders you pretty much have to give them a plant tab or equivalent. PREFERABLY one without urea or any ammonia as this is just a recipe for algae; nitrate is fine - NPK from non ammoniacal sources is what you want.

Australian Aponogetons

Aponogeton in aquaria has previously always been known to be from Asia, Africa or even Madagascar, but a number of Aponogetons are found in Australia, some of which make great aquarium plants. Some other probably would if we could get any as they are rare and their location is kept secret.

How to grow Madgascar lace plants. They're really easy.
