Bloodfin
(Aphyocharax anisitsi)

A peaceful fish coming from Argentina, fomerly known as Aphyocharax rubripinnis. It looks attractive swimming in a shoal, is well known for tolerating cooler conditions and is easily bred. John Cornelius found that they would live happily at temperatures down to 10° C. They become more colourful and, Cornelius felt, actually did better at the lower temperature than at what we may see as "normal" tropical temperatures.
