THE FINE PRINT
The pages, to which this disclaimer is linked, talk of keeping some species of tropical fish at less than tropical temperatures. It is not intended that readers should feel encouraged to put their $500 super-blue-neon-discus out in the garden pond during a cold snap in the hope that they'll put on condition ready for breeding. What these pages actually attempt to do is draw attention to the fact that many species, such as the white cloud minnow and the peppered catfish, actually do very well at temperatures below the accepted "tropical" norm. By recording as much information as possible, especially in relation to the natural ranges of the different species, we are therefore able to offer the residents of our aquaria better living conditions more in keeping with what they would be accustomed to in their own natural environments.
