Rosy Barb
(Barbus conchonius)
The rosy barb, which comes from India, thrives in the outdoor pond during
the summer, putting on its best colours and enjoying the freedom of the large
water area. In this environment it makes a good companion for the lemon barb.
At the time of writing I have rosy barbs spawning at 12° C just after
being moved from a tropical tank at 25° C. It isn't quite as hardy as the
lemon barb, so a suggested absolute minimum temperature is 10° C. It is
easily bred and an excellent community fish.
