An attractive and mild mannered barb well suited to the community tank. Its
natural range is said to include the foothills of the Himalayas, which may explain
why it is suitable as a "cool tropical". It prefers temperatures from 12° C to
5° C. It was once very popular but seems to be little seen in the hobby these days.
